Flexibility and yoga appear synonymous in the mainstream media and the reaction within the community is often to disregard or deny the entire notion. Join Jules Mitchell, author of Yoga Biomechanics: Stretching Redefined, for a 3-part workshop that explores both perspectives. While flexibility is certainly overrated, it is not as dangerous or detrimental as is often argued.
The program includes a breakdown and exploration of the various flexibility exercises that you can immediately use in your classes. You’ll develop explicit definitions for each approach and be able to fit your own teaching style and other movement brands into clear categories. You can also expect to investigate how considerations beyond a formal flexibility explanation, such as breath, position, and joint mechanics influence how you move and far you reach.
Jules has spent the last decade teaching yoga teachers about the science, biomechanics, and physiology of stretching. One of her main messages is that range of motion is less important than most people think, but she will be setting that aside for this weekend only! Join Jules for this unique and all-new course where you’ll finally explore a variety of stretching techniques and learn to determine which methods are best for certain outcomes.
